Privacy policy

Last updated: April 01, 2026

Splitea is an app for scanning receipts, assigning items per person, and calculating how much each participant needs to transfer. This policy summarizes what data the app may use, what it is used for, and which services process it.

1. Information that may be collected

Splitea may process the name, email, and profile picture associated with Google sign-in, receipt images uploaded by the user, structured receipt content, participants and contacts linked to shared receipts, as well as basic product preferences and sync data tied to the account.

2. How that information is used

This information may be used to identify the user, process receipts, extract merchant, date, items, and totals, calculate per-person and per-unit splits, distribute tax and tip proportionally, show the transfers needed, archive receipts, and sync shared expenses when applicable.

3. Related third-party services

To enable authentication, syncing, and receipt processing, Splitea may rely on Google Sign-In, Firebase Authentication, Cloud Firestore, a receipt-processing backend, and AI or OCR services used by that backend.

4. Storage and synchronization

Some information may be stored locally on the device and, when the flow requires it, synced in the cloud to preserve shared receipts, history, and relationships between participants.

5. Who it may be shared with

Information may be shared with services required for authentication, infrastructure, storage, and receipt processing. In addition, receipt data may be visible to participants involved in a shared expense.

6. Support and privacy contact

For general support or privacy-related requests, you can write to privacy@splitea-app.com.

7. Changes to this policy

This page may be updated to reflect product changes, integrations, operational requirements, or new data-processing practices. The version published here should be considered the most recent one.
